A wonderful sterling silver model ( 96% purity, higher than normal silver standard .92.5%) yacht made circa 1950 by Seki Takehiko of Japan.
Unpolished with original patina.
The yacht is mounted on a wooden plinth, housed in a wooden display box, all in nice condition throughout. The detail is excellent and the silver has a lovely matt finish with some of the parts of the ship gilded to provide contrast. The yacht was made by master silversmith Seki Takehiko, born in Chiba prefecture in 1908 moving to Tokyo in 1922 where he became an apprentice to Tajima Katsuyuki, perfecting his craftsmanship under master Kosaka Munehiro until 1936 when he started as a master silversmith on his own.
Unpolished with original patina.
