A rare figural open salt made in the Doulton Lambeth factory circa 1880. While this salt is not marked with the GT mark, it is commonly accepted that these figurines are attributable to the great George Tinworth.
In great condition with no known damage.
Marked with the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark along with an artist mark of BN (Bessie Newberry?) who most likely made the salt (not the figurine) and the glaze work.
1. Seaway china have an example priced at US$3,200, marked as 'out of stock' presumable sold?
2. Tooveys auctioneers sold a similar example Sept 2105 for a hammer price of GBP950.
